Another day brought another fire and another twist. On Friday night, a meeting was held again at Ray’s house, the center of operations as of late. When Gregg arrived, Stackpole and Groblewski were already there. Gregg was surprised when he saw Bobby wearing his Boston Police uniform: “Hey, are you working or what?”

“No, but I have to go in at midnight, so I wore my uniform,” replied the arsonist police officer. They discussed the fire at the Canton barn. The news media had covered the fire in great detail, including reporting the presence of the PCBs. The group members proclaimed that they had better be more careful with their choices and their actions.

Getting down to business, they chose to burn a two-story brick building behind the Dedham Mall, just west of the Boston line. The building was formerly a commercial laundry service warehouse, but now trees had completely swallowed the structure. Around 11:00 p.m., Bobby, Donny, and Gregg traveled the half mile or so from Norton’s house to the target, after a brief stop to pick up a couple of old tires from a garage. Gregg dropped Donny and the corrupt Boston Police Officer at the building, where they carried the tires with a device into the bushes.

They returned to Norton’s to await the fire, which didn’t take long. It was a good set, as it quickly went to four alarms. It was nearly midnight, so Officer Groblewski left for work. The rest of the gang sparked the blaze from the mall parking lot. However, there were too many people around for the group’s comfort, so they didn’t target any other buildings for the night.
